Lower Gear Ratio For Larger Tires

A lower gear ratio is a must when going with more than a couple inch larger tires than stock. As you must accommodate for the larger wheels, to keep your transmission for working to hard, if not you will put excessive wear on your transmission, and will consume more fuel than needed. This chart will help you decide what gears to go with. It is a good idea to get a little bit lower gear than needed, if you would like a little extra bottom end power, or if you think you may eventually go with an even bigger tire. Gears can get very expensive, especially if you pay to have them installed. They can cost as much as $1500 or more for front and rear including installation. You can however save a little bit of cash if you pull your axles out and take just the axles to your local shop. Anyways, hope the chart helps your decision.
